  1.                            Manual for aFTP
  2.                            ===============

  5.    Programm aFTP is GEM FTP client, working only with MiNT-NET and
  6. using AV protocol, which is implemented ie. in excellent desktop Thing.
  7.  
  8.    What do you need?
  9.    -----------------
  10.    
  11.    * MiNT at least version 1.08
  12.    * MiNT-NET
  13.    * AES supporting functions of AES at least version 4.0
  14.    * AV-SERVER or application supporting some messages of AV protocol
  15.  
  16.    Connect to server
  17.    -----------------
  18.    After selecting item 'Hotlist' in menu 'File' you can see dialog, where
  19. you can enter name of ftp server or in form number address (ie.  127.0.0.1)
  20. or hostname (ie. ftp.zcu.cz) and than select or anonymous login to server or
  21. after its check enter user name and password for this server.
  22. There is possibility select directory in dialog, in which the client tries
  23. change immediatly after connect to server. After press button 'Connect', the
  24. client tries connect to entered server and when he is successfull, it means
  25. he found it and connected it, he tries for loggin. If the loggin isn't right,
  26. the programm tries it itself again (you can set number of tries).
  27. After loggin the list of directory, in which you are now (home directory on
  28. the far server), copies; than the window with files and directories opens.
  29.    Of course, you can use Hotlist for connect, there you can save up to 25
  30. most often visiting servers, including way of loggin and startup directory.
  31. Later you can use items saved in Hotlist for quicker connect by select item
  32. right in submenu after select item 'Connect to' in menu 'Server'.

  34.    Command line or VA_START
  35.    ------------------------
  36.    If you start the programm with parametr or you send by VA_START string
  37. in form 'ftp://ftp_server/dir/', the programm connects to ftp server,
  38. loggins as anonymous user, change to setting directory and the window with
  39. the list of files in opens, or if it is in form
  40. 'ftp://ftp_server/dir/file_name', it connects to ftp server, loggin as
  41. anonymous user, gets file file_name to directory set in config dialog,
  42. disconnects from ftp_server and finishes.

  44.    File download
  45.    -------------
  46.    Now you can by doubleclick move on the far computer and by doubleclick on
  47. files you can watch them on your computer - it's the same as you use
  48. doubleclick in desktop. If you want the file get to you in any directory
  49. on your local disk, mark one or more files on the far server (by rubber or
  50. by click on items) and simply use drag&drop to icon of disk or directory.

  52.    File delete
  53.    -----------
  54.    Same as above, but you drag file(s) to trash.

  56.    Send file to server
  57.    -------------------
  58.    Take icon from desktop and drag it on aFTP's window with listing
  59. actual directory on server. You can send it file by file first, in next
  60. versions you will send some files together.

  62.    Menu EDIT
  63.    ---------
  64.    If you connect on server and open window with list of files, you can use
  65. function in menu edit. Or select or deselect all files in list - then you can
  66. use usually way for getting selected files or you can copy list to CLIPBOARD.
  67. If no file is selected, the list of all files copies. The list is an exact copy
  68. of list in window (sort; show lenght, date, ...). If you during click of mouse
  69. or hotkey to copy to clipboard hold shift key, the list is appended to actualy
  70. clipboard, in any case is clipboard overwriten.

  72.    Setting environment
  73.    -------------------
  74.    aFTP supports FONT protocol: you can use the nearest font selector on the
  75. window aFTP listing. The Thing is very successfull, because its internal font
  76. selector works very good. We recommend use proportional fonts. If you select
  77. item in menu, the programm finds env. variable FONTSELECT and calls
  78. font selector. In both cases you can set type, size and color of font !
  79. Programm saves setting(aftp.cfg) and Hotlist(ahotlist.ftp) to $HOME directory
  80. or to aFTP's directory.
  81.    In item 'GLOBAL' are setted paths to working directory, in which gets all
  82. files from server by doubleclick.

  84.    Known bugs and limitations
  85.    --------------------------
  86.    This is test release and every programm have some bugs, then
  87. we presents some of them here ;-)
